My Journey Back

I am a 32 year old mom of two who lives in the suburbs of NYC Metro. I am a Software Programmer who used to work for Fortune 10 companies, developing applications that let the big firms trade with each other electronically, with minimum human interference. About two years ago, I quit my job to spend more time with my then 5 year old son and rescue him from endlessly shuttling between living without his parents in India and with a string of supposed child care specialists in the US. In the meantime, I had a baby, gained a few stones and lost my desire to one-up every person I came across. In short, life happened.

Now that I have tried my hand at being home (and found that I enjoy it a little to much for my health and that of my bank account), I have decided to take the plunge again and go back to the big bad world of cut-throat competition, snarky co-workers and impossible deadlines. All I need is a high paying job in the worst economic shake-down since the Great Depression, a mind-blowing nanny who wouldn't mind caring for two very adorable but spoilt cherubs and a personal trainer ready to work for a pittance. Just another adventure for another day right?

So I figured I will share my experience of getting back to work with other amazons out there who are in the same boat as me and would like to commiserate. Hope you find enough time to share your insight on the mountainous terrain you are trying to navigate and the secret to your success. Any takers?
